Serendipity

I've written before about Freecycle and the joys of getting free stuff and the occasional chance to dispose of someone else's garbage (it's a double edged sword, sometimes you win, sometimes you lose). But the thing I didn't write about were the people. I have met several gals whom I now consider friends (hi Terri) and yesterday had the pleasure of meeting another (hi Kris) who not only is a member of Freecycle, she is also a gardener, she cans, and she's funny (of utmost importance to me). Plus, she BLOGS....go see her....now...I'll wait.

Kris came by to pick up peppers that I had no use for (I have canned enough to last several winters). Since jalapenos are one of the few things chickens can't eat (that would just be mean) the only place left for them was the compost pile and that just seemed wrong. So the peppers now have a purpose (she's making jalapeno jelly...wow) and I have a new friend....cool.

ps. and I didn't send you to her blog just to read nice things about me.....honest :)

I've popped over from Kris' blog. Loved reading through your blog! I think I can really learn a lot from you. I am a beginner gardener. I also can and eat pretty healthy. Most of my produce comes from the farmer's market, though. I look forward to getting to 'know' you!

Hi Frankie! Thanks so much for stopping by, and I LOVE your blog...always on the lookout for frugal recipes. I look forward to seeing more of you too (8 kids....yikes!) <---and I mean that in a good way :)

ps. and Princess Bride is one of my favorite movies also!!!

0k, so I don't have it on my profile....I couldn't think of ALL of them.

Thanks, Maureen ! Appreciate your great kindness. You know, when we drove up to your house, I felt like I was "home". In every dream I have had about a "cottage", it has looked just like your house, even to the daybed (of sorts) on the porch. What a blessing !

Dehydrated the jalapenos today. Realized I had 16 jars of jalapeno jam already...! Wore gloves this time. I learned from my previous mistakes......

Hi Kris, thanks for the nice comment....we love our house too, tho it's in a constant state of disarray and change, it's our refuge.

And ouch! I need to get myself some gloves also, the last time I seeded peppers my hands stung for hours :0
