Happy Valentines Day!

My dear, sweet, intelligent, funny, endlessly patient husband and I celebrated our 25th wedding anniversary on Wednesday of this week. We went out to dinner at a very nice, very expensive (choke choke...but we had a gift certificate :) restaurant. Food, wine, and conversation were all wonderful. Even in these troubled times, I feel extremely blessed.

Conversation with daughter as I was getting ready......

dd.....What anniversary are you celebrating?

me....Our 25th.

dd ....Why aren't you dong something special?

me....We are; we're going out to dinner.

dd ...(exasperated sigh) People do that all the time Mom.

I didn't know your anniversary was so close to ours (our 21st was on the 13th). Michael called and told Naoko we should be proud to make it this long with all the divorces in America. She said, "Just thank the Lord. It was his idea." That says it all.

thanks all! It's a cliche but it really does go by FAST.

Time flies...whether you're having fun or not! (it's a JOKE!)

My take on this 25 years business?

-I don't know how Maureen has put up with me that long.

-Secrets? Gardens and baseball. Maureen is an artist with the garden and when I come home, I marvel at the new she has created. She also tolerates baseball and has come to really appreciate and enjoy the game.

-Not a Valentine lover, just expedient. We knew if we didn't get married before baseball started, it would be June before we'd get another chance. We also knew we didn't want to wait any longer once we decided to marry. I think we were actually thinking that at least one of the president's holidays would work out for a break. Not that it has worked out that way.
