Fog

...is just about the only weather we get and I kind of like it,
(hey, it's something!)

This is the parkway that we dug up in the fall and the potato plants that we're HOPING will produce wonderful spuds in the Spring. All the plants are up; most just barely poking out of the dirt.

Here's the biggest of the bunch....this was the first plant up in the fall (planted in Nov.) and we thought we had lost it in a couple of the December freezes. I just wish I could see what was happening underground!

What's that crate thing on top of the potatoes? The lettuce looks good! And I love the new Steven Wright quote! :)

Those are 'cat guards'...any time we dig the cats see it as an opportunity...one more reason I like dogs better :)

ps. I'm trying to change the quote every couple of weeks...a friend sent me a bunch of them :)

can I ask a weird question?? is it ok to plant stuff like that right next to roads and cars???

I'm not sure Mandy...I read something about not planting food in the parkway because of leaded fuel (it was an older book) but with todays fuel, maybe it's cleaner??? We figure we won't have to worry about potatoes since they will be underground, tho I guess it could still get into the spuds...and we may have to look into the effects on other veggies.

and Thanks Ruth...mostly because I have been without a camera for 3 weeks and now we've lost photoshop. I can still do some editing but all my sport shots are dark and need leveling. Maybe next week I'll have everything up and running.

I miss you too!!!

Fog is one of my favorite types of weather too. It makes everything so beautiful and mysterious.

We use 'cat guards' too, which also keep out the chickens as well, but ours comes in the form of wire fencing sheets that we lay over our raised beds.

Here's to hoping your potatoes are growing like gangbusters!

I look at your beautiful pictures and then look out my window and can't believe the difference!! The idea of gardening in January is entirely foreign to me and my fellow citizens of the Canadian Prairies. It's nice to live vicariously through you and your lovely pictures though! :)

If mine is the pantry yours wants to be, yours is the garden I dream of every night but have yet to plant! Me=jealous! Thanks for stopping by!

Never thought of needing guards for the chickens...I will have to check those out before we get our chickies, thanks!

Chorus...you're so sweet (you just made my day) You know, it's people like you and the blogging world in general that make me recognize and appreciate how fortunate we are to be in California and be able to garden all year long. (if it helps...I bet your air quality is better:)

Willo...thank YOU for stopping by (it was truly weird to go to your blog and see your pantry photo on the same day I was posting about my ongoing attempt to change mine - gals, be sure and check out her blog, it's wonderful) And thanks for the garden complement...another day brightener. Sometimes the garden is the thing I live for...and I thank God that I have it.
